About Maria, the Music Instructor

I have studied music at Neighborhood Music School in Los Angeles, CA, Brigham Young University-Idaho, East Los Angeles College, and Weber State University.

I started learning from formal music lessons at the age of eight.  It has been 19 years since I have started and I continued throughout my collegiate studies.

I have participated in numerous musical events around the Los Angeles area, including the Los Angeles Music Center on Grand Avenue, Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles Music Center Education Division, Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles and other private events.  During my studies I have performed at the San Jose Convention Center, Snow Recital Hall at Brigham Young University-Idaho, Harrison Arboretum at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, and the Eccles Theater, Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts.

I love to keep things interesting and focus on how my students learn best.  My job is not only to teach, but to get to know my students and make sure they feel comfortable with me and actually learn to keep loving music by my enthusiasm as well.  I love teaching any subject in reality and enjoy every bit of it!  I love to reward my students and believe strongly in verbally encouraging them and acknowledging their progress.  Sometimes, I have activities with students to apply music elsewhere in life.

MY MISSION
I strongly believe that everyone has musical talent in one way or another and my job is to help develop that special quality and help build the cofidence needed through more knowlegde.

My goal is also to expose different variations of music and to help develop a more profound appreciation for piano and singing enthusiasts. I strive to learn how each student learns best and I want to help anyone willing to put in effort into reaching their musical goal with all my heart.

Whether you want to learn how to play the piano or learn how to use your vocal chords and sing out loud, I am here to help you every step of the way.
